The Office of Drug Control Policy Distributes Applications for Jail Recovery Grants
ODCP continuing to assist in recovery programs for Kentucky’s jails
FRANKFORT, KY: The Office of Drug Control Policy sent the 2005-2006 Community Corrections Recovery Pilot Program Grant application to 65 jails in Kentucky today. The ODCP was allocated $1,000,000 to help establish programs, financial policy and administrative guidance for full-service local correctional/detention facilities, which will provide programs for inmates, parolees, shock probationers and Halfway Back participants. ODCP awarded $500,000 at the beginning of the fiscal year to nine jails and now has a balance of $500,000 to award by the end of 2005.
“We will grant up to ten correctional/detention facilities awards ranging from $35,000 to a maximum of $75,000 to start or enhance jail recovery programs,” said ODCP Executive Director Teresa Barton. “Everyone is eligible with a full-service facility, including those receiving current year awards. Our goal is to increase the number of beds in the jails with the attempt to increase substance abuse treatment for non violent offenders.”
Included in the grant application will be criteria for which each facility will be evaluated. The grant application is due by December 9, 2005. ODCP will award the jail recovery grants December 16.
