Potter-Blair Promoted to District 9 Probation & Parole Supervisor
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Lelia VanHoose, Director of the Division of Probation & Parole for the Kentucky Department of Corrections, today announced the promotion of Kimberly Potter-Blair to District Supervisor in Probation & Parole District 9.
“Potter-Blair has gained the cooperation and confidence not only of Probation and Parole staff but also of numerous outside agencies such as the circuit courts, court members, Commonwealth Attorney’s office and local detention center,” said VanHoose. “In addition, her good character and dedication have been recognized by those around her. I look forward to working with her as she begins her tenure as a member of the Department of Corrections management team.”
Potter-Blair began her career with the Department of Corrections on February 1, 1998 as a Correctional Officer at Blackburn Correctional Complex. She was then promoted to Caseworker at Blackburn before transferring to the Division of Probation & Parole, District 9 on December 16, 1999. After supervising a caseload of offenders for approximately four years, she was then promoted to her current position of Assistant District Supervisor for District 9 on November 1, 2003. Her promotion to District Supervisor will be effective October 1, 2005.
During her career, Potter-Blair has been a member of the Kentucky State Parole Officers’ Association and the Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency, where she previously served as President of the Bluegrass Chapter of KCCD. Currently, she is participating in the Commissioner’s Leadership Development Program, which began in May 2005. Potter-Blair was recently honored with the Commissioner’s Award at the annual Department of Corrections awards luncheon. The Commissioner’s Award is given to a Department of Corrections employee who has distinguished themselves in the workplace and in the community.
Potter-Blair resides in Lexington with her husband and their three-year-old son.
