Department of Juvenile Justice Commissioner Receives Award
Frankfort, KY – Bridget Skaggs Brown, Commissioner of the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) received the “Juvenile Justice Award” during the annual Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency (KCCD) conference held in Louisville, Kentucky September 6-9, 2005. This award is presented each year to an individual in the department that has provided a significant contribution toward the improvement of Kentucky’s juvenile justice system.
The award was presented by KCCD President Tim Settles during the department’s annual awards luncheon with over 275 DJJ employees in attendance. In accepting the award Commissioner Brown stated, “the accomplishments we have made during these past 12 months are attributed to the dedication and hard work performed by our staff throughout the state and I accept this award on your behalf.”
Commissioner Brown was appointed to head the agency in July 2004 after serving briefly as the department’s Deputy Commissioner for Operations. Previous to her entry into state government, Brown had a distinguished 20 year career with the Louisville Police Department.
