Michael Bolcas Promoted to Assistant Director of Probation and Parole

FRANKFORT, KY – Kentucky Department of Corrections’ Director of the Division of Probation and Parole Lelia VanHoose today announced the promotion of Michael A. Bolcas to Assistant Director of Probation and Parole. Bolcas will assume his duties in this position effective May 16, 2007.

“Michael Bolcas has the knowledge, skill and dedication required for this position,” said Director VanHoose.  “He has an outstanding work ethic and a no nonsense approach to problem solving and promoting better service for the Commonwealth.  I look forward to working with Mr. Bolcas as we strive to continuously enhance the operations within the Division of Probation and Parole.”

Bolcas began his career as a Probation and Parole Officer in May 1991 in the Danville Office.  In July of 1996 he transferred to the Versailles Office where he supervised offenders in Bourbon, Scott and Woodford counties.  He was promoted to Assistant District Supervisor of District 14 in August 2004 and further promoted to Eastern Region Branch Manager in August 2006.

Bolcas is a 1986 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and is a lifelong resident of Woodford County.  He and his wife, Maria will continue to reside in Woodford County with their 3 children, Daniel 22 years of age (student at U K), Paige 16, and Michael age 14.
