(LEXINGTON, KY) --The Kentucky State Police honored 27 of its most outstanding civilian employees at a special ceremony held today at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Lexington. Lt. Gov. Stephen B. Pence joined Kentucky State Police Commissioner Mark L. Miller in presenting the awards.
Covington resident Jerry Keathley, a police communications dispatcher supervisor at KSP Post 6 in Dry Ridge, was honored as the KSP Civilian Employee of the Year. A 13-year veteran of the Kentucky State Police, Keathley began his career with the agency as a dispatcher at Post 9 in Pikeville. He is a native of Beaver, Ky. and a 1986 graduate of Betsy Layne High School in Floyd County.
“The true benefits that the citizens of the Commonwealth receive from state employees can never be measured,” said Lt. Gov. Pence. “I commend all of today’s award winners for their achievement.”
“With so many demands placed on our agency in these new and different times, the importance of our civilian employees becomes even more apparent,” noted Com-missioner Miller. “Not a day goes by in the life of a trooper that the services they provide go unused. They make it easier for our troopers to serve the citizens of Kentucky effectively, efficiently and professionally.”
