Frankfort, KY: U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff and Kentucky's Director of Homeland Security Keith Hall met today in Annapolis, Md, home of the U.S. Naval Academy. The meeting took place at a gathering of the Homeland Security Directors from each state.

"Based on what I heard from Secretary Chertoff and the senior leadership of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), I will be reporting to Governor Fletcher and Lieutenant Governor Pence that our strategic investment of precious homeland security dollars based on consequence, vulnerability and threat is completely consistent with the approach preferred by DHS,” said Keith Hall, Director of the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security.

Hall spent time with more than a dozen senior officials at DHS while in Annapolis. "The DHS officials encouraged us to continue our work toward integration of public health in our homeland security efforts and the establishment of an intelligence and information fusion center. They were impressed with our community preparedness program and progress towards implementation of the National Incident Management System,” said Hall.

While in Annapolis, Hall also met with counterterrorism officials from the Department of Defense and the newly established National Intelligence Directorate.
