FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 14, 2010) – The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, Kentucky Division of Emergency Management Region 1, and the KCTCS/State Fire Commission will host an emergency-preparedness exercise May 18 at Trigg County High School.

This tabletop exercise, from 8 a.m.-noon, will involve multiple emergency disciplines including county emergency management, fire service, law enforcement, emergency medical services, healthcare workers and forestry personnel.

The purpose of the discussion-based exercise is to review, examine, and evaluate the emergency management and recovery guide for Trigg County Public Schools.

Specific areas to be discussed among school officials and first-response agencies include school evacuation, on-site and off-site assembly areas, student accountability, first- responder capabilities and emergency communications.

Exercise participation will prepare school officials and fire responders for a full-scale exercise to be conducted in the fall and involve approximately 1,200 participants.

Any questions concerning the event should be directed to Matt Ladd, director of operations, Trigg County School District, at 270-522-6075 or KyHSEEP Exercise Director Butch McKinney, CEM, at 859-608-4073.
