Emergency Preparedness Exercise in Trigg County School District
FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 14, 2010) – The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, Kentucky Division of Emergency Management Region 1, and the KCTCS/State Fire Commission will host an emergency-preparedness exercise May 18 at Trigg County High School.
This tabletop exercise, from 8 a.m.-noon, will involve multiple emergency disciplines including county emergency management, fire service, law enforcement, emergency medical services, healthcare workers and forestry personnel.
The purpose of the discussion-based exercise is to review, examine, and evaluate the emergency management and recovery guide for Trigg County Public Schools.
Specific areas to be discussed among school officials and first-response agencies include school evacuation, on-site and off-site assembly areas, student accountability, first- responder capabilities and emergency communications.
Exercise participation will prepare school officials and fire responders for a full-scale exercise to be conducted in the fall and involve approximately 1,200 participants.
