Kentucky Historical Society to Host Saturday with Santa
Santa Claus is making a stop in Frankfort on Saturday, Dec. 12

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 2, 2009)— Children, parents and other Santa-enthusiasts are invited to attend “Saturday with Santa” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort. The event, which is free and open to the public is hosted by the Kentucky Historical Society and Downtown Frankfort Inc., and sponsored by Whitaker Bank.

Pull out your festive sweaters, grab your cameras and join KHS for a Christmas soiree. Guests are invited to snap pictures with the jolly old guy and enjoy family-friendly holiday stories and refreshments. Children can try their hands at 19th-century games like ball and cup, Bilbo catchers and jack straws.

In addition to “A Kentucky Journey,” the KHS permanent exhibition, and “Kentucky Military Treasures: Selections from the Kentucky Historical Society Collections,” a new exhibition, families will have the opportunity to view a live KHS Museum Theatre performance. “Jack Hunts Christmas” is a whimsical adaptation of Clay County author Anne Shelby’s book “The Adventures of Mollie Whuppie and Other Appalachian Folktales.”  The 15-minute play is free with museum admission and will be performed at 1 and 3 p.m.

For more information on “Saturday with Santa” or other KHS events, visit www.history.ky.gov. Admission to the Kentucky Historical Society history campus is $4 for adults, $2 for youth ages six to 18 and free for children five and under.
