KHS to Host Food for Thought: The Feuds of Bloody Breathitt: Kentucky’s Untold Story
FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 30, 2013) — The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) will host a “Food for Thought” luncheon program, “The Feuds of Bloody Breathitt: Kentucky’s Untold Story” with author and filmmaker Jerry Deaton, at noon Wednesday, May 15, at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in downtown Frankfort.
When asked about Kentucky feuds, most people will think of the famous feud between the Hatfields and McCoys of Pike County. In “The Feuds of Bloody Breathitt,” take a journey back to the mountains of eastern Kentucky, but to Breathitt County, for the story of forgotten feuds that raged for more than 40 years. Deaton is a direct descendent of a feuding family, and he relives the history of some of Breathitt County’s most colorful characters.
The menu for the luncheon features wedge salad with ranch dressing, cheddar biscuits with country ham, green bean bundles, garlic cheese grits, deviled eggs, chocolate bourbon pecan pie, iced tea and coffee.
Tickets to the “Food for Thought” luncheon are $20 for KHS members and $25 for other patrons. To make a reservation, contact Julia Curry at 502-564-1792, ext. 4414. Reservations are required by Friday, May 10.
