Governor Fletcher Appoints Member to the Murray State University Board of Regents
Appointee is physician and professor
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed Dr. Laxmaiah Manchikanti, of Paducah, to the Murray State University Board of Regents.
Manchikanti is the medical director of the Pain Management Center of Paducah and the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Paducah. He is also associate clinical professor of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine at the University of Louisville.
Manchikanti holds a bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery degree from Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad, India. He is the founder and chief executive officer of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and is a member of the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure and the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee. Manchikanti is a member of the editorial boards of multiple medical journals and his work has appeared in more than 230 publications. He is married to Chandrakala Manchikanti.
The Murray State University Board of Regents is made up of eight members appointed by the Governor and three other members, including a teaching faculty representative, a non-teaching employee representative and the student body president.
