Governor Fletcher Reappoints Member to the Morehead State University Board of Regents

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has reappointed James H. Booth, of Inez, to the Morehead State University (MSU) Board of Regents.

Booth is the president of Czar Coal Corp. and a retail business entrepreneur.  His business interests, which include coal mining operations as well as restaurants, hotels and convenience stores, employ more than 2,600 employees in eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. 

Booth is the current chair of the MSU Board of Regents.  He is active in the community, serving on the Inez Deposit Bank Board of Directors, the Pikeville College Board of Trustees, Honey Branch Economic Development Authority board and Coal Operators and Associates Inc. board.  Inducted into MSU’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 1996, he is a member of the College of Business Advisory Board and was named the college’s outstanding alumnus in 2000.  He is a member of the board of directors of the Cincinnati office of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.  Booth holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from MSU and is married to Linda Booth.

The Morehead State University Board of Regents is made up of eight members appointed by the Governor and three other members, including a teaching faculty representative, a nonteaching employee representative and the student body president.
