Governor Fletcher Reappoints Member to the Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents
Appointee is past president of EKU Alumni Association
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has reappointed Gary C. Abney, of Richmond, to the Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Board of Regents.
Abney is a realtor for Prudential Don Foster Realtors in Richmond. He is the former president of First Southern National Bank and the Richmond Bank and Trust Co. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from EKU.
Abney is chairman of the board of the Richmond Utilities Co. He is past president of the EKU National Alumni Association and the EKU Colonel Club. Abney has served as treasurer of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and Richmond Pops at the Park. He has also served on the Madison County United Community Fund Board of Directors and the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority Board of Directors.
The EKU Board of Regents is made up of eight members appointed by the Governor and three other members, including a teaching faculty representative, a nonteaching employee representative and the student body president.
