Governor Ernie Fletcher Appoints Members to the Animal Control Advisory Board
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed Malinda B. Davis, of Lexington, and reappointed Beckey Jo Reiter, of Florence, to the Animal Control Advisory Board.
Davis is a veterinarian for the Lexington Humane Society. She previously worked as a relief veterinarian in central and eastern Kentucky. Davis attended Morehead State University and received a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Auburn University. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Animal Advisory Committee. She is married to Wesley Davis and represents the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association on the board.
Reiter is the director of animal control for Boone County. She is a member of the Kentucky Animal Control Association, the National Animal Control Association, the Kentucky Association of Counties and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. Reiter has represented the Kentucky Animal Care and Control Association on the board since 1999. She is married to Kenneth Reiter.
The Animal Control Advisory Board is made up of 12 gubernatorial appointees. Members are appointed four-year terms and are nominated by the following groups: the Kentucky Association of Counties, the Kentucky Animal Control Association, the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association, Kentucky Farm Bureau, the Kentucky Houndsmen Association and the Kentucky League of Cities. The board establishes animal shelter standards and makes recommendations on disbursements from the animal control and care fund.
