Governor Ernie Fletcher Appoints Members to the Motorcycle Advisory Commission for Highway Safety

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed two members to the Motorcycle Advisory Commission for Highway Safety.

Roy E. Johnson, of Frankfort, is a transportation engineer specialist for the Division of Right of Way and Utilities in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.  Johnson received a degree in mining engineering from the University of Kentucky.  He is a member of the Central Kentucky Riders Club of Frankfort and the Southern Cruisers Riding Club of Lexington.  He is married to Debra S. Johnson and represents the Office of Project Development on the commission.

Gary L. Johnson, of Calhoun, is construction manager for the Rogers Group, Inc.  Johnson attended Kentucky Wesleyan College.  He is a member of the Hopkinsville Chamber of Commerce, the Hopkinsville Home Builders Association and Masonic Lodge 423.  He is married to Cindy Johnson and represents the Kentucky Association of Highway Contractors on the commission.

The Motorcycle Advisory Commission for Highway Safety assists the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in ensuring that highway design, construction and maintenance policies and procedures consider the specific needs of motorcyclists.  The commission examines Transportation Cabinet policies and procedures in areas including, but not limited to, crash barrier design, road maintenance practices, road construction, traffic control devices and intelligent transportation systems and recommends changes where necessary.
