Governor Ernie Fletcher Appoints Chairman of Capital Development Committee
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed Frankfort Mayor Bill May as chairman of the Capital Development Committee.
May has served as mayor of the city of Frankfort since 1996. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Kentucky State University. May is a member of the Frankfort/Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and served as district chairman of the Boy Scouts of America and president of the Frankfort Jaycees. He served on the board of directors for the Frankfort Arts Foundation and the Capitol Expo and is married to Jenny A. May. May and his family sponsor “Coats for Kids,” a project that provides new winter coats for school children in Frankfort and Franklin County.
The Capital Development Committee was created by the General Assembly to ensure the proper coordination of state government initiatives which impact the city of Frankfort and Franklin County government. The committee is made up of 10 members, and the Governor appoints the chairman.
