Governor Ernie Fletcher Appoints Member to the Education Professional Standards Board

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed Rebecca S. Goss, of Harlan, to the Education Professional Standards Board.

Goss is a speech-language pathologist for Harlan County Schools.  She received a bachelor’s degree in speech and communication disorders from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in speech and communication disorders from the University of Tennessee and a Rank I certificate in special education from Union College.  She is a member of the Kentucky Speech-Language Hearing Association, the Kentucky School Boards Association, the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence and the Harlan Independent Schools Board of Education.  Goss is also employed by a service provider for First Step, a statewide early intervention system which provides services to children with developmental disabilities.  She is married to Mark David Goss.

The Education Professional Standards Board is made up of 17 gubernatorial appointees.  The board establishes the standards and requirements for obtaining and maintaining a teaching certificate within Kentucky and sets forth the guidelines and standards for the programs that prepare individuals for becoming teachers and professional school personnel.
