Governor Fletcher Appoints Member to Personnel Board

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed Betty Gibson, of Frankfort, to the Personnel Board. Gibson will serve the remainder of Patrick Moores’ term, which expires January 1, 2010.

“I am honored that Governor Fletcher has appointed me to the Personnel Board, and I look forward to joining the board in their work,” said Gibson.

Gibson retired from the Fayette County Board of Education in 2002 and spent the majority of her career with Kentucky State University, where she served from 1988 through 2000, most recently as coordinator of special events and activities.

Gibson received a bachelor’s degree in music education from Kentucky State University and a master’s degree in music education from Eastern Kentucky University. Gibson serves as chair of the Good Shepherd School Board, president of the Beta Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, past-president of the Frankfort-Lexington Chapter of The Links, Inc. and on the Salvation Army Board of Directors. She and her husband, Dr. Kenneth D. Gibson, have two children.

The appointment is effective immediately.
