Governor Ernie Fletcher Appoints Members to the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher today announced the appointment Erwin Roberts, of Louisville, and Sandy Patterson, of Ft. Thomas, to the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees.

“Reaching the University of Kentucky’s goal of being a top 20 public research university will take outstanding trustees to guide and direct the institution,” said Governor Fletcher. “Erwin Roberts and Sandy Patterson bring the kind of talent, experience and commitment to excellence that will accelerate the University of Kentucky’s progress. I appreciate Erwin and Sandy’s willingness to serve in this capacity.”

Roberts is an attorney with the law firm of Frost Brown Todd, LLC. He is a graduate of Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky College of Law. Roberts is a member of the United States Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) 139th Legal Support Organization. He previously served as Personnel Cabinet secretary and director of the Office of Homeland Security for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Roberts is a former Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky and a former Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in Fayette County. He previously served as a member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and coordinator of the Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council. He is a member of the Middletown United Methodist Church. He is married to Phelicisima W. Roberts.

Patterson is president of the Robert W. Bugie Sales Company of Cincinnati, and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky. She is past president of the UK Alumni Association and has served several terms on the association’s Board of Directors. Patterson is a past president of the Northern Kentucky UK Alumni Club, and has served on the boards of the Fashion Group of Cincinnati, Garden Club of Fort Thomas, Highland Country Club and St. Luke Hospital Community Foundation. Patterson will serve in a position statutorily designated for a member of the UK Alumni Association, and was nominated by more than 1,500 UK alumni for this appointment. She is married to William H. Patterson.

Both appointments are effective immediately.
