FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher today announced the appointment of Judith H. Gibbons, of Lakeside Park, to the Kentucky Board of Education.

Gibbons is a retired vice president of Lee Hecht Harrison, a full service, professional career management firm. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.

Gibbons is a member of the Foundation Board for Northern Kentucky University. She is a member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Vision 2015, Greater Cincinnati Foundation, the American Cancer Society and Leadership Northern Kentucky Alumni Association. She and her husband, Michael Gibbons, have three grown children and two grandchildren.

The Kentucky Board of Education develops and adopts the regulations that govern Kentucky's 176 public school districts and the actions of the Kentucky Department of Education.  While the board has legal authority to establish performance standards for local school districts and to mandate corrective actions, the board respects the local autonomy of each school district.
