Governor Ernie Fletcher appoints member to the Public Advocacy Commission

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed Joyce Cummins, of Mt. Vernon, to the Public Advocacy Commission.  

Cummins is a social worker for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.  She received her bachelor’s degree in child and family studies and her master’s in counseling from Eastern Kentucky University.  She is the chair of the Mt. Vernon Elementary Resource Center Advisory Council.  She is married to Joseph Cummins.  

The Public Advocacy Commission is made up of six gubernatorial appointees. The commission is responsible for supervising the public advocate and assistance in ensuring the independence of the Department of Public Advocacy.
