Gov. Beshear to Host Media Reception Before Debate

DANVILLE, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear will host a media reception on Oct. 10, the evening before the Vice Presidential Debate at Centre College.

More than 3,000 media representatives from the United States and 40 other countries have received credentials for the Danville debate.  The media presence alone will create a major economic impact and put Danville and Kentucky in the spotlight.

“We want to take advantage of this opportunity to tell these media representatives about Kentucky tourism, economic development, agriculture and other topics,” Gov. Beshear said. “Centre College and the community of Danville have done a great job to attract this debate and I applaud their spirit of cooperation.”

The event at the Norton Center for the Arts is sponsored by the Bluegrass, Horses, Bourbon and Boone Tourism Region and the Kentucky Distillers’ Association. Supporting sponsors include Blue Grass Airport, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Farmers National Bank, Keeneland and Kentucky Proud.

Other efforts to publicize Kentucky to the media have included email blasts and the establishment of a debate media website.
