Gov. Beshear Appoints New Lewis Co. Judge-Executive
John Patrick Collins is current Deputy Judge-Executive; will not seek office this fall
FRANKFORT, Ky.– Governor Steve Beshear today appointed John Patrick Collins, of Vanceburg, to the office of Lewis County Judge-Executive.
The office was vacated by Thomas Massie, who resigned effective June 30th.
Collins will serve as the judge-executive until the November election, when Lewis County residents will choose a new judge. Collins will not run for the seat, so his term will expire in November once the results of the general election are certified.
“The office of the judge-executive is critical to the continuing function and efficiency of a county government, which is why it was important to move quickly to fill this vacancy,” said Gov. Beshear. “I am confident that Patrick will serve Lewis County well in the next few months, and will allow the citizens to elect a Judge-Executive of their choosing this fall.”
Collins is the current Deputy Judge-Executive, and has served as the Lewis County Economic Development Director for the past two years. He is a graduate of Morehead State University and holds with a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Louisville.
“I appreciate the opportunity to serve the county where I grew up, and I look forward to working with whoever wins the office of Judge-Executive to ensure a seamless transition,” said Collins.
