Governor Beshear Recognizes Sacrifice of Two Fort Campbell Casualties
FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear today recognized the sacrifice of two Fort Campbell soldiers who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, the following soldiers died Aug. 29 at Nangahar, Afghanistan, of wound sustained when their military vehicle was struck by rocket propelled grenade on Aug. 28 at Nangahar, Afghanistan.
- Capt. Ellery R. Wallace, 33, of Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Pfc. Bryn T. Raver, 20, of Harrison, Ark.
Capt. Wallace was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. and Pfc. Raver was assigned to 1st Brigade Special Troop Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
The Governor will order that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of each soldier’s interment for which arrangements are still pending.
