| Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) announced today a $1 million Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Woodford County. The money will be used to complete the second phase of the Huntertown Relocation project.
This project will complete the relocation of the Huntertown area residents. The families will move to decent, safe and sanitary houses out of the wetland area that was plagued by standing water and sewage problems. The property will become green space.
“The Huntertown residents should enjoy the safety and health as other areas throughout the commonwealth,” stated GOLD Commissioner Ellen Williams. “By working with local communities to eliminate such living conditions, this administration is striving to create an environment of health and well-being for all Kentucky citizens.”
Community Development Block Grants are federal monies procured through the efforts of Kentucky’s U.S. Congressional leaders. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development makes these funds available through GOLD, which administers the CDBG Small Cities program in Kentucky.
