Governor Ernie Fletcher visited Blue Licks Battlefield State Park in Mt. Olivet today to speak at the Buffalo Trace Area Development District annual meeting.  During the event, the Governor presented officials from the Robertson County Public Library with a ceremonial check for funding that will be used to complete an information center project at the library.

The funding will allow the library to purchase a 156-square foot LED message center, with a mounted sign and brick base.  The project, which will be largely funded by a $17,650 Community Economic Growth Grant (CEGG), will help promote community meetings and events.

“The citizens of Robertson County do not have access to local media within their own county, which makes the dissemination of information rather difficult,” said Governor Fletcher.  “This grant will ensure that community events are well advertised and promoted.”

The message center will be located on the front lawn of the library and will feature a text and graphic display, as well as a time and temperature sensor.

“School events and training opportunities can now be relayed in a timely fashion,” said Senator Charlie Borders (R-Grayson).  “I am very pleased to see the Robertson County Public Library receive this funding.”

“This message center will be highly visible to all people,” said Representative Tom McKee (D-Cynthiana).  “I applaud the efforts of local officials in securing this grant.”

CEGG funding is administered by the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) through the Office of State Grants.
