Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development Announce Funding for Perry County
Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today a $75,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant for Perry County. The grant will be used for the Perry County Park Pool.
Funds will be used to renovate the pool by replacing the filter and pump system, the bathhouse and deck area. In addition, new gutters, fencing and new guard stands will be installed.
“Community pools are a place where children and families can come together and have fun,” said GOLD Commissioner Ellen Williams. “Governor Fletcher supports these projects that place emphasis on the family.”
“During the summertime, the Perry County pool is a big draw,” Representative Brandon Smith noted. “The funding will allow community’s families to continue to enjoy the fun and health benefits they have come to expect.”
The Land and Water Conservation Fund provides grant funds to protect important natural areas, to acquire land for outdoor recreation and to develop or renovate public outdoor recreation facilities such as campgrounds, picnic areas, sports and playfields, swimming facilities, boating facilities, fishing facilities, trails, natural area and passive parks. The LWCF is funded by the National Park Service and administered by GOLD.
