Governor Fletcher Awards Funding for the Creation of 96 Hillview Jobs
Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) today announced a $1 million dollar Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the city of Hillview. Funds will be used for a rail spur infrastructure project.
“My administration is focused on bringing jobs to Kentucky," said Governor Fletcher. "This funding will be a great economic boost to Hillview and the surrounding area."
The project will be used to serve Sabert, Inc., a plastic food packaging manufacturer seeking to locate a new facility in Hillview. Sabert, Inc., plans on expanding its operations by constructing a 200,000 square foot (SF) building that will include the initial phase of extrusion and thermoforming manufacturing operation with distribution space. The project is projected to create 96 new jobs in the first two years.
Senator Gary Tapp noted, “This will be a fantastic opportunity for Hillview. This funding will spur further development in Bullitt County.”
"The jobs created by this project will have a tremendous impact on families living in our community," said Representative Mary Harper. "I am pleased to see Hillview receive this funding and look forward to seeing Bullitt County gain almost a hundred new jobs."
Kentucky's U. S. Congressional leaders continued support of the CDBG program has made the funding available nationally as well as within the commonwealth. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development makes these funds available through GOLD, which administers the CDBG Small Cities program in Kentucky.
