Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) announced today two Area Development Fund (ADF) grants for the Gateway Area Development District to distribute to the communities in its region.  Menifee County will receive $6,750 of Area Development Funds and the city of Morehead will receive $8,568.74.  The grants will be used for the purchase of capital equipment.

The Gateway Area Development District serves the counties of Bath, Rowan, Morgan, Menifee and Montgomery.  Menifee County local officials requested the ADF in order to purchase a dump truck for the Menifee County Road Department.  The city of Morehead is sponsoring the project to purchase medical equipment for the Morehead/Rowan County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Agency.

“These state funds are being utilized for important and worthy projects in Kentucky’s Area Development Districts,” GOLD Commissioner Ellen Williams remarked.  “I am always pleased when the state can step up to assist in meeting the needs of communities.”

The Area Development Fund is a state-funded program that provides financial support to local governments for capital projects.   These state-allocated dollars allow communities to engage in project activities that they may not otherwise afford and ensure a high-quality of life for Kentucky citizens.  The ADF program is administered by the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD).
