Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development announce funding for Garrard County
Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today a $75,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant for Garrard County. The grant will be used for the Project KICK.
Funds will be used for the construction of a multi-purpose field, two soccer/football practice fields and playground equipment. In addition, LWCF dollars will go to landscaping, the renovation of bleachers, walkways and a parking lot.
“As a soccer mom, I know how important proper practice facilities are to my children,” said GOLD Commissioner Ellen Williams. “I am pleased to be a part of Governor Fletcher’s administration, where he is committed to ensuring that all Kentucky citizens have a good place to work as well as to play.”
The Land and Water Conservation Fund provides grant funds to protect important natural areas, to acquire land for outdoor recreation and to develop or renovate public outdoor recreation facilities such as camp grounds, picnic areas, sports and playfields, swimming facilities, boating facilities, fishing facilities, trails, natural area and passive parks. The LWCF is funded by the National Park Service and administered by GOLD.
