Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) today announced a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Fleming County.  The funds will be used to renovate an existing industrial building for the use of Blue Water Park Models, Inc.  Governor Fletcher visited Fleming County to present the funding.

“This funding is an investment in the future of Fleming County,” noted Governor Ernie Fletcher.  “The community should be commended for its efforts to work with local industry in order to create jobs for Fleming residents.”

Blue Water Park Models will specialize in the manufacture of park model recreation homes.  The homes are designed to meet the demands of individuals who are seeking recreational park trailers that can be individually constructed to meet the needs of each buyer.  This expansion will create approximately 25 jobs with positions ranging from unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and managerial.

Senator Walter Blevins said, “This funding will help boost Fleming County’s economic development efforts.  The jobs are important to this community.”

Kentucky's U. S. Congressional leaders continued support of the CDBG program has made the funding available nationally as well as within the commonwealth.  The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development makes these funds available through GOLD, which administers the CDBG Small Cities program in Kentucky.
