Governor’s Office for Local Development Deputy Commissioner Named

          The Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) today announced the appointment of Colleen Chaney to the position of Deputy Commissioner for the Governor’s Office for Local Development.

Chaney, who has served in the capacity as chief of staff for GOLD since March 2005, has been with the agency since June 2004.  Chaney was originally the public information officer for the agency.

In addition to her role as Deputy Commissioner, Colleen will be serving as Executive Director of the Office of State Grants.  The Office of State Grants will administer the Area Development Fund, the Kentucky Body Armor Program, the Cemetery Preservation Fund Program, Renaissance on Main, Community Economic Growth Grant program, the Local Government Economic Development Fund and HB 267, 269 and 380 Community Fund Line-items.

Prior to joining the administration, Chaney worked extensively with local governments during her tenure with the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC).  The new position is effective immediately.
