| Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) announced today a $32,760 Recreational Trails grant for the citizens of Crittenden County. The funds will be used in the first phase of the Dam 50 Recreational Trails Project.
This recreational trails project will develop the historic Dam 50 property located on the Ohio River into a multi-use recreational area. Construction of a new path at the Dam 50 location will connect with the Trail of Tears National Scenic Trail.
“My administration embraces the history and tradition upon which Kentucky was founded,” Governor Ernie Fletcher commented. “Developing a trail in Crittenden County that connects with a national historic recreational trail allows people to experience the true beauty of Kentucky.”
The Recreational Trails Program is funded through the Federal Highway Administration and may be used to acquire land for recreational trails and to develop and renovate trails for both motorized and non-motorized use. Recreational Trails funding is administered by the Governor’s Office for Local Development.
