Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development announce funding for the city of Carrollton
Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today a $15,945 Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant for the city of Carrollton. The grant will be used for the Point Park Development and Renovation Project.
Renovations to the park include the expansion of the picnic shelter, the installation of grills and picnic tables, resurfacing the basketball court, installation of a water fountain and the replacement of playground equipment.
“Point Park is an area for the citizenry of Carrollton to visit that is right in their backyard,” said GOLD Commissioner Ellen Williams. “Governor Fletcher recognizes how important having access to such facilities is to the people.”
Senator Ernie Harris commented, “These renovations will significantly increase the quality of recreation found at Point Park. I am pleased to work with this administration, which continues to focus on Kentucky’s families.”
The Land and Water Conservation Fund provides grant funds to protect important natural areas, to acquire land for outdoor recreation and to develop or renovate public outdoor recreation facilities such as camp grounds, picnic areas, sports and playfields, swimming facilities, boating facilities, fishing facilities, trails, natural area and passive parks. The LWCF is funded by the National Park Service and administered by GOLD.
