Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development Announce Funding for the City of Benham
Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today a $30,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant for the city of Benham. The grant will be used for the Benham Recreational Vehicle (RV) Park Project.
LWCF dollars will go towards the development an RV park with the ability to hold ten RVs. The funds will be used to create camping areas and a picnic shelter with restrooms and showers. In addition, electric, water and sewer hookups will be installed as well as a paved entrance and parking.
“Tourism has been a big focus for Governor Fletcher,” said GOLD Commissioner Ellen Williams. “The Benham RV Park will tap in on a booming tourism industry, providing economic opportunities to the community.”
Representative Howard Cornett commented, “Many areas across the state and nation have already reaped the benefits of having a tourist draw like an RV park. The city of Benham will have an increased interest from tourists and its citizens will reap the benefits.”
