Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) announced today a $1 million Community Development Block Grant for Christian County. The funds will help build the Legion Circle Sewer Project.

The Legion Circle Sewer Project was proposed by Christian County in order to improve the current wastewater treatment system.  Most area residents are relying on failing septic tank systems. Construction in the area will include approximately 13,500 linear feet of sewer lines and man holes eliminating contamination and health problems by replacing the septic systems.

“This award will provide residents of Christian County with a reliable sewage treatment system,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.  “My administration is dedicated to making sure that all of our communities are healthy and thriving.”

Community Development Block Grants are federal monies procured through the efforts of Kentucky’s U.S. Congressional leaders.  The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development makes these funds available through GOLD, which administers the CDBG Small Cities program in Kentucky.
