Governor’s Office for Local Development Announces 2006 Recreational Trails Funding Cycle
The Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) will begin accepting applications for the 2006 Recreational Trails Program beginning March 1, 2006. The deadline for submission is May 1, 2006.
Kentucky’s apportionment from the Federal Highway Administration for Fiscal Year 2006 is $1,168,177 to create public trails for recreational activities such as walking, hiking, jogging and biking.
City and county governments, state and federal agencies, and non-profit organizations are eligible to apply for the grants. The Kentucky Trails Advisory Committee reviews and scores the applications, and makes funding recommendations.
The maximum grant request is $50,000 and the minimum is $2,500. Project sponsors are required to contribute at least 50 percent of the total project costs through cash, donations or in-kind services.
Applications are available through GOLD’s website at www.gold.ky.gov and the state’s 15 area development district offices. For more information regarding the Recreational Trails program, contact Jodie McDonald at 800-346-5606 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
