| Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) announced today a $743,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the city of Glencoe. The money will be used to eliminate substandard housing within the city limits.
The city of Glencoe will be acquiring eleven homes that are beyond repair throughout the city. Many do not have proper wiring, foundations, sewer systems or public water connections. The substandard housing will be replaced with decent, safe and sanitary dwellings. All families being served are low income.
“Our families deserve a home that is safe and sanitary,” said Governor Fletcher. “This grant furthers the commitment of my administration to improve the standard of living for all Kentuckians.”
Community Development Block Grants are federal monies procured through the efforts of Kentucky's Congressional leaders. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development makes these funds available through GOLD, the agency that administers the CDBG Small Cities program in Kentucky.
