- Conservation Reserve Program Assists Landowners - General Sign-up Began Aug. 2, 2010
Tuesday, August 03, 2010 USDA's Farm Services Agency (FSA) recently announced a general sign-up for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). The program offers landowners the opportunity to use their environmentally-sensitive lands for conservation benefits and receive rental payments and cost share assistance.
- Help Offered to Restore Damaged Timberlands
Wednesday, July 21, 2010 Forest landowners suffered extensive damage from the 2009 ice storm and many are still left wondering what to do to restore damaged forests. In an effort to provide additional assistance to these landowners, the Kentucky Division of Forestry (KDF)—through a federal grant from the U.S. Forest Service—has partnered with the Kentucky Division of Conservation and local conservation districts.

Monday, June 14, 2010 A comprehensive report entitled Kentucky’s Statewide Assessment of Forest Resources and Strategy was recently completed by an assessment team led by the Kentucky Division of Forestry (KDF). The assessment, which can be viewed online at www.forestry.ky.gov, addresses critical issues, priority areas and long-term strategies regarding Kentucky’s forest resources.
- Division of Forestry Seeks Public Comment
Monday, May 03, 2010 A current draft of the Kentucky's Forestland Assessment Strategies can be viewed online at www.forestry.ky.gov and written comments regarding the strategy will be accepted through May 10, 2010. The finalized assessment and strategy will serve as a basis for planning and funding.
- Spring Forest Fire Hazard Season Ended April 30
Monday, May 03, 2010 Forest fires have kept the Kentucky Division of Forestry busy this spring. Although the spring forest fire hazard season officially ended on April 30, the potential for wildfires can occur any time of year. This potential has forestry officials concerned as reduced staff and other cutbacks hinder the ability to suppress wildfires and ensure public safety.
- Kentucky Firewise Community Grants Now Available
Tuesday, April 27, 2010 Kentucky Firewise Community Grants are currently available for fire-prone communities. The Division of Forestry will be accepting Applications through June 15.
- Grant Funds Available for Volunteer Fire Departments
Wednesday, April 21, 2010 The Kentucky Division of Forestry is currently accepting applications for Volunteer Fire Assistance grant funding. Applications must be submitted by June 17, 2010.

- Urban Forestry Council to Meet
Monday, March 08, 2010 The Kentucky Urban Forestry Council will meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 8 at the Division of Conservation’s office located in Frankfort. Council members will discuss the progress of the statewide assessment of forest resources, the development of the Kentucky Grove Web site, planning for the Emerald Ash Borer conference, Tree Board Seminar, Tree City USA, Small Business Administration funding for urban tree planting and the Forest Health Monitoring project.
- Kentucky Forest Stewardship Coordinating Committee to Meet
Monday, March 08, 2010 The Kentucky Forest Stewardship Coordinating Committee will meet from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10 in Frankfort at the Department for Environmental Protection. Committee members will discuss the proposed forest priority areas including Forest Legacy areas as part of the statewide assessment of forest assessment.
