Monday, February 06, 2012 First Lady Jane Beshear today announced the overwhelming success of “Shop and Share Day,” a one-day drive to provide domestic violence shelters with needed goods. Surrounded by donated items packed into the capitol rotunda, Mrs. Beshear said the combined goods and monetary donations were estimated at more than $782,000.

Wednesday, October 19, 2011 First Lady Jane Beshear joined local officials and University of Kentucky (UK) representatives today to announce the expansion of an ovarian cancer screening program that will provide free services to women in northeastern Kentucky Appalachian counties. The UK Markey Cancer Center Ovarian Cancer Screening Project will establish a satellite facility for the program at the Greenup County Health Department.

Tuesday, August 16, 2011 First Lady Jane Beshear today visited Millbrooke Elementary School in Christian County in a recognition event announcing Kentucky is now home to more than 100 ENERGY STAR labeled public school buildings. During the summer, Millbrooke, Indian Hills, Lacy and Belmont Elementary schools, each part of Christian County Public Schools, were notified that their buildings received the ENERGY STAR label, which brought Kentucky to the 100th school building mark. Five other schools in the Commonwealth have since earned the label, with more on the horizon.
