FRANKFORT, Ky. — Today under sunny skies at A.J. Jolly Park in Campbell County, First Lady Jane Beshear and Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo celebrated the great outdoors during the Northern Kentucky Adventure Tourism kick-off. This event—which featured both local elected officials and leaders from across the Commonwealth—aimed to recognize the unique outdoor recreational opportunities that the region has to offer.

“Northern Kentucky is an example of how to successfully look beyond county lines and city lines and join together in working towards a common goal,” said Lieutenant Governor Mongiardo. “We will need this kind of unity and cooperation across the state in order for Kentucky to become the ultimate location for destination recreation.”

Kentucky’s Adventure Tourism initiative has been going strong since the unanimous passage of Senate Bill 196. With myriad regional events across the Commonwealth—from trail rides to fishing tournaments—and a successful ATV safety campaign underway, Kentucky is well on its way to becoming the premier choice for outdoor adventure not just in the United States but across the globe.

“With beautiful rivers, parks and friendly citizens, we have a wonderful opportunity to be the Adventure Tourism destination of the world.  Northern Kentucky has so much to offer to the outdoor enthusiast:  hunting, fishing and, my favorite, horseback riding, just to name a few,” said First Lady Jane Beshear.

At over 900 acres, A.J. Jolly Park is one of the largest parks in the Commonwealth. It has something for everyone to enjoy outdoors on its grounds including a 200-acre fishing lake, campgrounds, play equipment, picnic areas, sports fields and an 18-hole golf course.
