FRANKFORT, Ky.—The pension benefits for future public employee workgroup of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Public Employees Retirement Systems will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, May 2 at 10 a.m. in Room 125 of the Capitol Annex. The meeting is open to the public.
This workgroup, entitled “Detailing the appropriate level of pension benefits to attract and retain future public employees,” is chaired by Personnel Cabinet Secretary Brian Crall. Members of the committee are: Bob Arnold, Kentucky Association of Counties; Robert C. Brown, Kentucky Public Employees’ Deferred Compensation Authority; William P. Hanes, Kentucky Retirement Systems: Gary Harbin, Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System; Lee A. Jackson, Kentucky Association of State Employees; and James E. Parsons, governor’s fiduciary appointee.
This workgroup will examine the needs of future employees for security and flexibility in planning for retirement in the context of the commonwealth’s ability to sustain those benefits going forward. Other workgroups of the blue ribbon commission are “Defining a strategy to fulfill our commitments to existing employees and retirees” and “Developing sustainable healthcare plans and benefits for public employees.”
