New Deputy Secretary of Finance and Administration Selected Bowling Green attorney brings experience to the job
FRANKFORT, KY – Finance and Administration Cabinet Secretary Jonathan Miller today announced the appointment of Robert Shannon Morgan from Bowling Green as Deputy Secretary of the Finance and Administration Cabinet.
Morgan most recently served as general counsel for the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, a position he held since January 2008.
“Shannon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the cabinet,” said Sec. Miller. “Shannon’s ability to work with leaders mixed with his personal interest in business and public policy will serve him well as our office continues finding strategic ways to improve our state economically and build our workforce.”
Morgan is an accomplished attorney having spent a decade in private practice in Bowling Green. Morgan’s practice consisted of a diverse business-oriented practice, including business, real estate and commercial transactions as well as commercial litigation. Prior to that Morgan served as a law clerk to now Chief Justice John D. Minton.
Morgan is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture (biotechnology) and a Master of Science in agricultural economics. He received his Juris Doctor from Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.
Morgan replaces Glenn Mitchell who retired as deputy secretary at the end May.
Morgan, who lives in Bowling Green, is married to Kerry Morgan and they have two children.
Morgan began his new position July 17, 2009.
