Extended hours offered for individual income tax assistance
FRANKFORT, Ky.--The Kentucky Department of Revenue is providing extended individual income tax assistance service by telephone beginning Monday, April 3, 2006, through the filing deadline of Monday, April 17, 2006. Taxpayers needing assistance should call (502) 564-4581. This telephone line is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. EST to 5:30 p.m. EST to assist individuals with preparing their individual income tax returns. The department provides general information and answers to technical questions.
During this period, in-person/one-on-one assistance in preparing 2005 Kentucky individual income tax returns is available weekdays at any of the department’s 10 taxpayer service centers during regular hours from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. local time, except on Good Friday, April, 14, 2006, when the centers will close at 12:00 p.m. Individuals in need of this type of assistance must bring completed copies of their 2005 federal income tax return with all accompanying federal schedules.
On Monday, April 17, 2006, hours for telephone and in-person assistance at each taxpayer service center will be extended until 5:30 p.m. local time.
Taxpayers who wish to check the refund status of a filed 2005 Kentucky return should call the department’s Automated Refund and Tax Information System (ARTIS) at (502) 564-1600, rather than the taxpayer assistance line. ARTIS is available 24-hours a day; seven days a week. To check the status of a refund, you will need the social security number shown first on the return and the whole dollar amount of the refund.
