Recycle your old electronics
Dispose of your unwanted electronic equipment in a free, eco-friendly recycling program available in Frankfort to all state employees!
As the electronic industry continues to develop at a rapid pace, so does the space being taken up in landfills by discarded old and obsolete devices. Help protect our natural resources and safeguard the environment by participating in the eScrap recycling collections in Frankfort Jan. 15 and Jan. 22.
Frankfort-based state employees will be able to drop off their eScrap in a “drive-thru” style collection. Participants will be able to remain in their vehicles while the unwanted electronics are unloaded and recycled in an environmentally friendly way.
On Jan. 15, recyclables will be accepted in the parking lot of the Fair Oaks office building, located at 200 Fair Oaks Lane.
On Jan. 22, the collection point will be at the state office building located at 275 East Main Street, which predominantly houses the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
Collection hours for both days will be:
7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
E-scrap includes "end-of-life" electronic equipment: telephones and cell phones; computers and associated equipment such as keyboards, computer mice, cables and speakers; audio/stereo gear; VCRs; DVD players; video game consoles; fax machines; printers; and iPods. Due to a lack of resources, we will not be accepting televisions, monitors, refrigerators or mini-refrigerators.
Creative Recycling Systems, the company that has partnered with the state to recycle all collected electronics, guarantees to prevent unauthorized access to any personal information which may be stored on your electronic devices.
All participants are required to sign a copy of the Waiver of Liability and Acknowledgement when turning in electronics for recycling at the collection points. Copies of the waiver can be accessed at http://finance.ky.gov/NR/rdonlyres/DE132BC0-4515-4013-B800-9142C9DD144B/0/eScrap_waiver_final.pdf and will also be available at both locations.
