Free Workshops Assist Investors
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 10, 2008) – Kentucky investors can protect their nest eggs in these tumultuous economic times by researching their choices, seeking sound advice and avoiding fraudulent products and schemes. Two free workshops at the Kenton County Public Library, presented by the state securities regulator, will arm investors with those resources.
“In today’s economy, citizens may need sound investment advice now more than ever, especially when considering a portfolio or product change,” said Gov. Steve Beshear. “These free workshops will help Kentucky citizens choose a reputable broker or adviser and protect themselves from those who prey on investor fears with false promises and offers.”
Both workshops are free, appropriate for any age adult and include take-home materials. Unbiased information is provided by the state Department of Financial Institutions (DFI). No specific products or individuals will be promoted. DFI cannot provide financial advice.
The Oct. 16 workshop will help investors choose a broker or adviser by providing tips on what to look for. Participants will also learn how to set up an investment account.
