Library Presentation Benefits Investors
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 16, 2008) – A free workshop at the Kenton County Public Library on Thursday will share what investors need to know before investing on their own. “Selecting an Investment” is appropriate for any age adult and provides investing knowledge beyond the company 401(k). Participants will hear basic information on various securities products and how they are structured; suitable and unsuitable investments; financial goals; and the importance of having a diversified investment portfolio. Participants also will receive free materials.

“Selecting an Investment” is the first of a three-part series of investor workshops at the Durr Branch. Citizens also may learn about “Getting Help With Your Investments” on Oct. 16, as well as “Protecting Your Money” on Nov. 20. All three sessions are free and include materials. The information presented in each session is different, and the workshops can each stand alone or reinforce each other as a series.
Speaker Kelly May is the public information officer for the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions (DFI). DFI, an agency in the Public Protection Cabinet, is responsible for regulating the banking, lending and securities industries in Kentucky. DFI is committed to providing financial education and promoting awareness about the importance of saving, investing and making wise personal financial decisions.
