KY State Nature Preserves to Meet
FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 27, 2010) – The Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission (KSNPC) will conduct a quarterly public meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, at the Blackacre State Nature Preserve in Jefferson County.
The agenda includes the introduction of two commissioners recently appointed by Gov. Steve Beshear. John Chism represents the Kentucky Association of Soil Conservation Districts and Aubin Mattingly represents the National Farmers Organization.
The staff of Blackacre will give a presentation on the preserve and a tour of the grounds is planned for after the meeting. Please contact KSNPC for directions to the meeting site.
KSNPC’s mission is to protect Kentucky’s natural heritage by identifying, acquiring and managing natural areas that represent the best-known occurrences of rare native species, natural communities and significant natural features in a statewide nature preserve system. The commission also protects biological diversity and educates Kentuckians as to the value and purpose of nature preserves and biodiversity conservation.
