KY State Nature Preserves Commission to Hold Special Meeting

FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 15, 2011) – A special meeting of the Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission (KSNPC) will be held 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at the Blackacre State Nature Preserve, 3200 Tucker Station Road, Louisville.

Agenda items include:

  • a presentation by the Blackacre Conservancy on its vision for the preserve;
  • a presentation by KSNPC on proposed amendments to 400 KAR 2:090; and,
  • a discussion between the Blackacre Conservancy and the commission on the conservancy’s vision.


KSNPC’s mission is to protect Kentucky’s natural heritage by identifying, acquiring and managing natural areas that represent the best-known occurrences of rare native species, natural communities and significant natural features in a statewide nature preserve system.

The commission also protects biological diversity and educates Kentuckians as to the value and purpose of nature preserves and biodiversity conservation.  Discover more about KNSPC online at
