Fire Marshal Investigating Horse Barn Fire

    Three investigators with the Kentucky State Fire Marshal’s office are on the scene of a fire that killed more than two dozen horses at the Riverside Downs thoroughbred training facility near Henderson.

     The fire broke out early today in the wood-frame structure. Deputy State Fire Marshal Chris Pentecost said 28 horses are believed to have died in the fire. Three others survived. The barn was a total loss.

    Pentecost said the cause and origin of the fire have not yet been determined.
