Public Protection Cabinet
Occupations and Professions Director Named
A Lexington woman with extensive experience in human resource management has been named executive director of the Division of Occupations and Professions in the Public Protection Cabinet.
Frances S. Short served as director of human resources for two Lexington-area health services organizations in the past 13 years and is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR). She also has held administrative positions for several major law firms.
“We are delighted to have Frances join us in the Public Protection Cabinet,” said Secretary Robert Vance. “She has a variety of skills that will prove invaluable in this challenging position.”
Short graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She earned PHR certification in 2001. She is a member of the Lexington chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management.
The Division of Occupations and Professions serves as the administrative staff for 20 professional boards. The division maintains records for more than 40,000 licensees. The division was transferred from the Finance and Administration Cabinet to the Public Protection Cabinet earlier this year as part of a reorganization.
